A Traveller's Ireland - National Photo Competition
If you are entering the competition, you must submit an entry form before 31 October 2005.
Entry Form:
Complete the entire entry form and print a copy to enclose with your work.
Labelling:
All work must be labelled (with your name) on the reverse in block capital letters.
Size restrictions:
Photographs must be no larger than 16x24 inches. Any entries larger than specified will not take part in the competition.
Submission Dates & Locations:
The work must be submitted to one of the Traveller organisations, which are listed here, by the 11 November, 2005.
Selection:
The selection committee will comprise of a panel of judges including representatives from the photographic profession, the Gallery of Photography and the Traveller Community. 24 photographs will be selected and exhibited at Filmbase in Temple Bar from 3-10 December, 2005. The names of the people whose work will be exhibited will be posted on our website (www.paveepoint.ie) by November 28, 2005. Those people whose work will be exhibited will be notified by post.
Prizes:
The first prize will be 1000 and the second prize will be 500. All exhibited entries will receive a certificate that recognises their involvement in the exhibition.
Collection Dates:
Unselected works must be collected from their original drop-off points (Traveller organisations) between the 16-18 of January 2006.
Work for Sale:
If you wish to sell your work you must state so in Part B of the application form. The sale price must be included.
Terms and Conditions:
- All entrants may submit up to three photographs (Note, 18-July-05: there is no fee for submitting entries).
- Any work previously exhibited, published or entered into previous competitions will not be accepted.
- Any copied work will not be acceptable.
- All work entered must be ready for hanging and must be wrapped and protected with particular attention to the surface and edges.
- Selected work cannot be removed until after the closing date of the exhibition.
- All work will be treated with care but Filmbase, Pavee Point and the distribution/collection points will not be responsible for any damage, loss or destruction to work. Any insurance should be effected by the entrants against all risks.
- Incomplete or late application forms will not be accepted.
- All entrants wishing to visit Traveller halting sites or meet with Travellers must arrange to do so with the local Traveller organisations. A list of Traveller organisations, which will also act as, collection points is given on our website (www.paveepoint.ie).
