Press Release July 2006
03rd July 2006.
Pavee Point strongly condemns Sunday morning's attack on a fire crew in Dunsink Lane Finglas and urges anyone with information about the assault to contact An Garda Siochana.
Unfortunately issues of antisocial behaviour affect some Traveller sites as they do other areas. Travellers are deeply concerned by this both in terms of the harm caused to service providers as well to their own community – including living in fear, disruption to service provision and generalised negative publicity.
Travellers involved with Pavee Point recently produced and circulated a leaflet highlighting and condemning antisocial behaviour affecting service providers and service provision in the Finglas area. This initiative had the backing of a wide range of service providers including the Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Siochana, the National Taxi Drivers Union and others. The leaflet makes suggestions about what people can do to address anti social behaviour and gives useful contact numbers for people to call.
Pavee Point will continue to work with Travellers and Service Providers to challenge anti social behaviour.
