A reception was held in Geneva last week to mark the work of Anastasia Crickley as chairperson of CERD (Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination).  Her term of office finishes soon.

Ambassador Michael Gaffey, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations,  hosted the reception and various members of the CERD committee and the Chairman of the Convention against Torture Committee (CAT) praised Anastasia’s drive, diplomacy and skill in chairing the CERD committee’s work through many sensitive and complex issues.

She challenged governments to implement their obligations to prevent racism and protect human rights especially of migrants and vulnerable groups including Travellers and Roma, they said.
