Need for Anti-Racist Election Protocol

In the current general election climate and with today’s Cabinet reshuffle we are calling on all political parties to sign up again to Enar Ireland’s  Anti-Racist Election Protocol which promotes responsible electioneering and condemns candidates should they engage in racist electioneering.

It is not a surprise that ethnic minorities experience discrimination but it is vital that politicians show leadership on these issues and we urge the Government to prioritise anti-racism by re-introducing an Action Plan Against Racism.  We don’t want the rise of extreme racist right wing politics in this country.

In terms of new Ministerial appointments we will be judging Ministers on their actions in the future and looking for cross-departmental support for the implementation of actions under the Government’s National Traveller & Roma Inclusion Strategy.
