Role: Peer Researcher

Location: Ennis, County Clare

Work Location: County Clare

Hours: 12

Responsible to: Needs Assessment Coordinator

Objective:

The Peer Researcher will carry out research, as part of a research team on Traveller needs assessment across County Clare. The successful applicant will be involved in the research process including piloting and rollout of the research and also data inputting/ collation of information.

 Role

Traveller peer researchers will:

  • spread awareness of the research
  • encourage Travellers to participate in the research
  • actively participate in research training organised by Pavee Point
  • actively participate in research meetings with needs assessment coordinator
  • participate at meetings with all peer researchers
  • conduct interviews with the lead researcher
  • conduct interviews with Traveller families throughout County Clare
  • store completed questionnaires in a safe and secure manner as agreed with the coordinator
  • input data to an agreed system
  • contribute to the final baseline report on the Traveller needs assessment in Clare
  • work with Pavee Point to present the findings of the research
  • carry out other relevant tasks as requested by coordinator

Essential requirements:

  • Willing to work flexible hours
  • Willing to work as part of a team or on own as required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A proven record of willingness to take the initiative and adopt a proactive approach

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a research area
  • Access to own transport
  • Strong literacy skills
  • Computer skills
