Today (Sept 03), the Primary Health Care Team is attending the HSE Integrated Healthcare Conference 2026, hosted as an official Associated Event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The team’s poster was selected for display at today’s event, showcasing the essential impact of Primary Health Care for Travellers Projects. The poster reiterates that these projects serve as vital connectors between Travellers and the health service, a point that has been repeatedly highlighted across national research and policy, including the recent Report on Cancer Awareness and Attitudes Among the Traveller Community (2025) and the National Review of PHCTPs.
Evidence accumulated over more than 30 years demonstrates that PHCTPs are an effective, community-led model for addressing Traveller health inequalities in partnership with the HSE and other statutory agencies. Through culturally appropriate outreach, advocacy, and peer-led support, this model bridges gaps in access and builds trust, supporting continued investment in Traveller-led approaches that advance integrated care, health equity and improved health outcomes.
