On the 10th of September, World Suicide Prevention Day, Exchange House Ireland, Pavee Point and the Traveller Counselling Service, in partnership with the National Traveller Mental Health Network (NTMHN), launched the Traveller Road to Hope & Change 2026 campaign in the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork.
Between today and National Traveller Mental Health Day (October 8th) 46 events will be happening around the country to raise awareness, create hope, and strengthen community voices around Traveller mental health and suicide prevention.
At the launch, panel discussion, that included Thomas McCann, Biddy McDonagh, and Chris Stokes, looked to how young Traveller men and women can engage with the campaign, and also included a broader conversation on the issue of online hate and accountability for online racism.
The launch included the first screening of the documentary ‘Traveller Road to Hope & Change’ (which will be made available to the public soon).
