World Mental Health Day 2026

Today, as we mark World Mental Health Day 2026, we acknowledge the many Traveller lives lost to suicide and poor mental health, may they rest in peace. We also recognise the tireless and dedicated work of local Traveller organisation/PHCTPS across the country working in partnership with the HSE to tackle the Traveller mental health crisis.

We highlight the importance of campaigns like the Traveller Road to Hope and Change, and the annual trip to Knock for the Tree of Hope blessing.

We welcome too recent Budget announcements regarding additional €1million funding for targeted mental health and suicide intervention for Travellers for Traveller organisations/PHCTPS.

Visit the ‘Mind Your Nuck’ website for information and supports for young Travellers and their mental health: https://youngpavees.ie/
