To address the many existing gaps between the Traveller women and maternity services, the Pavee Point Primary Health Care for Travellers Project developed an innovative maternal health initiative, Pavee Mothers.

With support from the Traveller Health Unit in the Eastern Region, Pavee Mothers uses a three pronged approach to encourage Traveller women’s engagement with maternity services.

This includes

  • a comprehensive antenatal information pack,

  • an online mobile digital resource and

  • a text-message campaign providing reminders throughout the antenatal period.

Minister for Health, Simon Harris, TD will be launching these resources on September 27th @ 11am in Pavee Point.

Pavee Mothers was awarded the Animate – Healthy Community Award 2017/2018 by Social Innovation Fund Ireland in partnership with Medtronic and the Department of Rural and Community Development via the Dormant Accounts Fund
