Minister for Equality David Stanton, TD will launch “Traveller Horse Ownership –  a Research Project” during Traveller Pride Week in June.

Other speakers will include Hughie Friel of Donegal Travellers Project, Mags Casey of Tipperary Rural Traveller Project and Dr Pat Wall of UCD.

Pavee Point is delighted to present this important research. The report demonstrates unequivocally the significance of horse ownership in the Traveller community.

It highlights the important role that horse ownership plays in the Traveller community culturally, economically, socially and even politically.  It also contains recommendations on the establishment of horse projects and horse associations.

Other aspects of Traveller culture will also be celebrated on the day with a tinsmithing demonstration.  The Traveller Living History Exhibition will also showcase Traveller life from the 1950s.

The event will start at 10.00am with registration at 9.30am and will take place at Pavee Point Traveller & Roma Centre, 46 Charles Street Great, Dublin 1.  Light refreshments will be served. RSVP by 5 June –
