Pavee Point is publishing a new mental health resource for Travellers on World Suicide Prevention Day 2020. This leaflet aims to raise awareness, within the Traveller community, on signs of poor mental health and provide signposting to support services.
The rate of suicide within the Traveller community is 7 times the national rate and accounts for 11% of all Traveller deaths. Few Traveller families have not be affected by suicide.
This resource is a valuable tool for Traveller Community Health Workers working in Traveller Primary Health Care Projects around the country and for people working with Travellers generally
The leaflet was produced by Pavee Point’s Mental Health Initiative, funded by the Traveller Health Unit.
