Pavee Point calls for action to address Traveller unemployment of 84.3%

Pavee Point welcomes the publication of the Census 2011 results today.  The availability of this data is crucial for the development of evidence–based policy making in relation to Travellers.

The evidence shows that the unemployment rate for Travellers has risen to a shocking rate of 84.3%.  This has risen from a rate of 74.9% in 2006.  This points to continuing, endemic discrimination in the labour market, along with the impact of the recession.
